YOUTH AT RISK OF HOMELESSNESS CAN START WITH ONE ARGUMENT
With one insult hurled. Then another. One fistful of words becomes one fist. One eye swollen shut by tomorrow. Rejected and unwanted and alone. Until one day, there’s one last straw. One bag packed. One last, desperate option. ONE STEP in a lonely direction.
WHEN ALL THEY NEED IS ONE:
One more hand instead of a fist. One more door swinging open, not slamming shut. One who sees their potential. Who knows one can do anything. One small step FORWARD to a brighter, safer, more hopeful direction. Because it only takes ONE STEP to change the course of someone’s life. And helping one youth take one step forward starts with you.
The numbers are shocking.
Last year, Urban Peak served over 2,000 youth experiencing homelessness. Sadly, many of those youth have mental health issues, turn to alcohol and drugs, or have experienced domestic violence. Leaving them on the streets alone and afraid.
Urban Peak is Denver’s only nonprofit organization providing a full continuum of services to youth experiencing homelessness, and youth at risk of becoming homeless. Urban Peak helps young people overcome individual, real-life challenges they face and become self-sufficient adults by offering essential services and a safe community.
